NEW YORK—Andrew Yang and Hudson, N.Y. Mayor Kamal Johnson will host a virtual town hall this Thursday, September 17 at 5 p.m. ET. The discussion will focus on universal basic income, the HudsonUP UBI pilot program launching in Hudson this fall, and other economic and social issues.

Since its formation in March, the Humanity Forward Foundation has provided millions of dollars in financial assistance to American families. The organization is now partnering with the Spark of Hudson, a learning and training center in Hudson, N.Y. set to launch in 2021.
HudsonUP is a five-year UBI pilot program that will provide 25 randomly selected Hudson residents $500 each month for five years. Residents of Hudson, N.Y. can now enter for their chance to be randomly selected for the HudsonUP universal basic income project.

Deadline for entry is September 20, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and selected participants will be notified of their selection shortly thereafter.
Participants must be residents of Hudson, N.Y., 18 years or older (with no age limit), and earn less than $35,153 a year (the median annual income in Hudson). Selection will be overseen by a team of independent researchers from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Tennessee and will be conducted by way of a random lottery weighted by equity factors. There will be no limits placed on how selected participants spend the money.
HudsonUP is a collaborative project made possible by The Spark of Hudson, founded by Susan Danziger and Albert Wenger, and the Humanity Forward Foundation, founded by former presidential candidate Andrew Yang. The HudsonUP program, including the selection process and implementation, has been designed in close partnership with individuals and organizations within the Hudson community.
The Spark of Hudson is a learning and training center set to launch in Hudson, NY dedicated to reinventing education. In addition to The Spark of Hudson and HudsonUP, Wenger and Danziger have launched and funded a variety of other projects to better the greater Hudson community and beyond.
The Humanity Forward Foundation is a new 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded by Andrew Yang, dedicated to promoting research and education around universal basic income and to providing charitable cash assistance to Americans in need.
